Unfamiliar with Swansea and south west Wales but want some tips on where to go and what to do? Who better to give you an insider's guide than the people who live here? Welcome to the Insider Guide to Swansea from the team at Holiday Inn Express...

Gnoll Country Park

"Gnoll Country Park is a large estate with a vast amount of grounds and 2 large ponds. There is a small café/shop where you can take your family for anything from a coffee to a nice lunch. There is also a large car park, which is free of charge.

I love going up to The Gnoll on a warm Sunday afternoon with my fiancée and his daughter. We take her to feed the ducks and swans, purchasing a large bag of bird food from the shop for just 25 pence. We all have a play on the swings then, it makes me feel like a child again!

Then we all go and get an ice cream and take a really nice walk through the grounds of the park, seeing some the remains of the old house and gardens that are there from the 18th century."

Margam Park

"Margam Park is a wonderful place to whether you want to go for a relaxing time or a fun day out with the family. There is always something going on as events held throughout the year from market festivals to ghost tours.

On a nice sunny day I love going for a walk through the deer park Its amazing how close you can get to all the animals. There is also the go ape high wire course, which I really would love to try I just have to build up the courage to climb 30ft up into the trees.

When I was a child I used to love going on the train that goes though the park to the fairy tale village and see where all my favourite characters lived and right next door is the maze which I would spend hours taking my mum round and getting lost.

These days I tend to go on the numerous walks visiting the orangey and margam castle I also found it’s a great place to go cycling or have a game of crazy golf.

I think it’s a place that’s really worth a visit as There as so many things to see and do."
