Change is happening
We're thrilled to be involved in the a major relaunch of the Holiday Inn brand, and you'll spot changes at our hotels in coming months. The biggest change is the name - Express by Holiday Inn will become Holiday Inn Express - and new logos and signage will indicate the change.
There’s much more to the rebrand than simply replacing the signs and changing the logo however. Over two years more than 18,000 people took part in research to find out exactly what matters most to our guests. We discovered that 90% of what’s important to guests is a modern, clean, safe property with efficient, friendly service that affords a great night’s sleep. To put it simply, you told us what you want and we listened. By the end of March 2010 all of Somerston's Express hotels will bear the new Holiday Inn Express insignia and you'll be able to enjoy:

Corporate booking tool coming soon
Our corporate sales team work closely with clients and companies across the country, providing account support and negotiated rates at each of our 33 hotels nationwide. As an additional service for our clients we are currently working on a brand new feature for our website which will allow clients to log-in to a private area of the website where they will be able to view and book at their special rates, contact their account manager, view the latest news from Somerston and learn more about our properties. Somerston commits to green initiatives
Somerston has made a commitment to reducing its environmental impact by launching its official 'Environment Policy'. With a dedicated working party overseeing the many initiatives throughout both the corporate offices and hotels, Somerston aims to actively encourage all of our teams and colleagues to take an environmentally friendly approach to business.
To celebrate our renewed commitment to green issues every Somerston hotel and office will be holding a Let's Go Green Day on Friday 28th of August 2009. Hotels will be challenged with running environmentally events and activities to encourage our teams to embrace green issues. Express by Holiday Inn Derby Pride Park celebrates 10th birthday
After a decade of welcoming guests the Express by Holiday Inn Pride Park continues to thrive. The hotel recently celebrated its tenth birthday and, following its extensive refurbishment in 2007, its still a thoroughly modern property which has lost none of its warmth and hospitality.
Perhaps more importantly, the hotel's birthday also marks the tenth anniversary of four of the hotel staff joining Somerston, clearly demonstrating their pride in the property and the team bond that exist there. |
Hampton by Hilton Liverpool to open in 2010
Somerston's latest development project, a Hampton by Hilton branded hotel, is under construction in Liverpool with a Spring 2010 opening date planned. This latest property will be Somerston's 34th hotel and further enhances the group's nationwide coverage.
The Hampton by Hilton Liverpool will feature 151 guestrooms and a contemporary design and will be managed by Gianfranco Boccuzzi. The limited service hotel will benefit from modern, comfortable furnishings and a beautiful reception area with a feature mezzanine level. The hotel is centrally located on Tabley Street at Kings Dock Mill ensuring its appeal to both business and leisure guests.
Somerston Team Join World's Biggest Bed Jump
 Staff from Express by Holiday Inn London Hammersmith joined colleagues from IHG and the public on May 7th for the World's Biggest Bed Jump. Organised by IHG to launch their biggest ever free nights promotion, events were help simultaneously in Shanghai, Paris, New York and London.

Somerston Holds Annual Awards Night
In spite of a snow-induced postponement, the 2008 Somerston Annual Awards finally took place on Saturday March 7th at Towcester Racecourse, Northamptonshire and was a huge success.
Guests arrived at Express by Holiday Inn Milton Keynes throughout the day and were given a warm welcome by the hotel team who impressed us with their exceptional service throughout the course of the weekend. Following a few hours of primping and preening a very smartly dressed crowd gathered in the Great Room for a drinks reception before boarding buses to the venue.
After taking their seats in the impressive venue our lucky guests were treated to a delicious meal while excitement built for the presentation of the awards.
Congratulations to each and every nominee and, most of all, to our lucky winners, all of whom are an asset to Somerston and continue to make us a successful business and a great place to work.
